Rick,
Here is what I did to fix my issue:
1. Log into your router.
2. Click on the "Advanced tab"
3. On the left hand side click on Wi-Fi Protected Setup
4. Click on the button that has "Reset to Unconfigured"
5. Reboot and all was well.
Again, this is what worked for me, not sure if it will do the same for your situation but give it a try and let me know what happens. Good luck!

Oh, D-Link actually called me, several times, and apologized so I told them what I did to fix this issue.

Joe,

I've encountered exactly the same issues on my DIR-655 router (multicast error changing wireless settings and can't restore a config file from prior to upgrade). I could feel my emotions were the same as your's in your blog posting. Would you be so kind as to share your fix? Puleeeeaaaasssseeee!!!

I promise not to post it or share it with DLink - I just want to move forward again.

Thanks Joe,

So what'd you do to fix the issue joe? I've run into the same issue, run through the gammit of advanced settings, even exposed the extra settings for advanced wireless etc. Been in tech for many years and this stuff is usually fairly easy to fix, but I haven't got this one yet after a couple days of trying.
