D-Link Tech Support Part 5

This weekend I got a call from D-Link.  Man was I surprised!  I didn’t think they would call me back.  Oscar Navaro is the guy who called me.  No, this is not the same Oscar that I posted about earlier.  I talked to Mr. Navaro about what happened and he was not so happy about how his techs were treating customer.  I did get an apology, that was very nice of him.  It would have been great to have received an apology from the other techs, but I will take what I get.  D-Link is now on my good side.

  • Hi there, I was looking for a solution concerning the exact same problem (Cannot use a multicast MAC address in WDS). I’m running with Firmware 1.33NA and it still had this stupid bug. For some reason there is a hidden WDS configuration in the web pages left over from a few firmwares back (1.20 if I’m not mistaken). After reading the DLINK forums, it seems that someone found a way to fix this issue (the configuration is hidden in the style sheets of the Web interface, so you need use “no style” in your browser in order to be able to see it).

You can read about it here:

Anyway it seems to be fixed in firmware 1.34NA. DLINK doesn’t specifically mentions this in the release notes of this firmware (it only says that the firmware fixes a “Becure” issue…), nor do they mention any kind of solutions anywhere on their support site, but after installing it, I’m able to change the wireless settings again AND also re-load configuration files I had saved before originally upgrading to 1.32NA & 1.33NA firmwares (1.32NA and 1.33NA would not take the saved config, spitting out an error that the file was incorrect…)

Let me tell you this is the last time I buy a DLINK w-router. I upgraded an old DLINK wireless I had that did not support 802.11N and this older router also had weird issues throughout it’s useful life (reboot issues, dropped wireless connections etc.). It seems that every problem DLINK fixes through a firmware causes other problems…

  • I got rid of my dlink and got an Asus RT-N16 and flashed it with DD-WRT and it works great!
