Prayers Are Needed

Melanie and I were at the Round Rock Express baseball game with the Lewis and West family. Tim Lewis showed up late. He had Mali and Alyssa with him. He told us that as they were driving on Toll Road 130, a semi-truck hit a person. Tim said that they missed the actual incident by less than a minute. He said that he stop to help. He saw what looked like a deer in the road, but it was this teenage looking kid. He told Mali and Alyssa not to look. Tim went to the truck driver, Murry Potts, to make sure he was OK. Murry told Tim that he saw the kid by the guard rail and then the kid just jumped…jumped right in front of his semi-truck. So the kid committed suicide. How sad. What was this kid thinking? Why was his life so bad that he thought this was the way out? This got me thinking, that we as Christ followers have to step up. We have to become the pastors, the preachers, the people who spread the Word of God. We missed this kid, and it makes me sad.
Please be praying for Tim, Mali, and Alyssa. The two girls were way to young to see something like this. Please pray that they keep strong. Murry Potts really needs some strong prayers. No person should have to go through that. It is sad that because of one persons actions, the kid jumping in front of Murry’s semi, that it has made a huge dent it all these peoples lives.

My Car Buying Experience Today

Melanie and I went to Capitol Hyundai in Kyle to look at what used cars they had. The sales guy told us that he had a 2005 Chrysler Sebring, with 18,000 miles, that had hail damage and he could get us a good deal on. So he went to his manager and the manager came to us and said that we could have it for $5,000 plus TT&L. So we went to look at it. It did have a lot of hail damage, which I wasn’t concerned about. I wanted a mechanically good running car. Well, Mel and I had to leave to pick up Brit from VBS. We told the guy we would pay $4700 out-the-door. Of course he had to talk to his manager. So I gave him my cell phone and told him to call me with the answer. I didn’t think they would go for it, but I really wanted them to do $5000 out-the-door. If they would do that, I would have bought it. Anyways, he calls me back and tells me the best they could do is $6500 plus tt&l. What?!?! Before I left the of, fer was $5k plus tt&l, where did the $6500 come from? I don’t know what happened, but I have never dealt with a car dealership where the made me an offer, and then they went up on the offer. Needless to say, we did not buy the car.
Crazy I tell ya, just crazy! I don’t know about these people. So, please BEWARE of Capitol Hyundai.

Hair Cut – Long, Short, Long, Short

I have been letting my hair grow out for the past two months. For those of you who don’t know me, I normally have a buzz cut. So I decided to let it grow out. That meant I had to put all that hair product stuff in my hair. I was using more shampoo to wash my hair, plus put in conditioner. Well, I just couldn’t take it anymore so I buzzed it again. Yeah!!! It feels so good to have short hair again. I just hope Melanie likes it. We will see in about an hour!
When I go and teach my computer classes, during my introduction I tell my students that I am married and have two kids. Britney is 8 going on 15 and Aaron is 7. Both of my kids have computers. Britney has a Dell laptop with Windows XP (yuck), and Aaron has an old Shuttle with Mandriva Linux. They both like going on the Internet to the kids sites that Melanie and I have approved for them to go to, but I know there will come a day that I will have to “lock down” the Internet so they cannot go to the crummy sites that are out there.
I just got back from teaching a class and wouldn’t you know it, that time has come. Britney came to me the other day and showed me a website that one of her friends showed her, this was definitely not a site that I want her going to. So I am now looking at Parental Controls for my home network. I have a Dlink DIR-655 wireless router and Dlink has come out with a new firmware upgrade for it that has their SecureSpot software. This come with Parental Controls and all sorts of cool stuff. I am going to try it out and see how I like it. I’ll post up my thoughts after I have had a chance to play with it and all.
New Mission Trip on the Horizon?

A friend of mine, Kamala Lewis, is a missionary that goes to Belize a few times each year. She is a dentist in Luling, TX. God has blessed her with her dentistry gift and she is using that gift to serve God in Belize. By the way, Kamala and I go to the same church, The Connection Church. So I was talking with Kamala about going to Belize and using my God given gift to serve there. She told me that there is a need for technology in the areas that she serves at. I’m very excited because I may get to go abroad again and serve, but this time Melanie will be going and that makes me even more excited!!! Be praying for us, and be praying for Kamala because her and a group of our young adults are going to Belize this summer to serve. God is AWESOME!!!
CSI Miami – Horatio Caine

So, when I cannot sleep at night, and House is not on, I don’t mind turning to A&E to watch a little bit of CSI Miami. This show is so funny, I am laughing because of how Horatio Caine is portrayed in the show. Why does he have to look down while he starts to talk to someone, and then look up at them about 5 seconds later, dramatically. Or, why is he always taking his sun glasses on or off dramatically? Or, better yet, why does he have to repeat himself all the time…(dramatically) why does he have to repeat himself all the time? I don’t know the answers to these questions, but it sure is funny!
Oh, and if you see Melanie, ask her what she thinks of Horatio Caine. I think she might have a small crush on him. She has even told me that she wants me to change my name to Horatio…is that weird?
Today, 11 years ago, is the very first time I ever saw Melanie. I was in my bed room talking on the phone with an old girl friend. Out of no where, Melanie pops her head around the corner of my door and says hi to me. I knew then that I had to meet this girl. She was HOT!!! So my roommate, Melanie, and I went out that evening. When I got back to my apartment, I told my roommate that I was going to marry Melanie. Well, less than three months later we were married and we have not looked back since, well, I haven’t.
Melanie, you sexy, beautiful woman…I love you!
