I was viewing Bryan Geiger’s Blog and thought I would post this on mine as well.

I did an interview with Certification Magazine a while back about the Apple course that Training Camp offers. Here is what the published magazine looks like and the online article.
I am currently working on the new Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard course for work (Training Camp). I was looking for a graphic in Google Images and came across this. This is the funniest thing I have seen all week. Enjoy!!!

The Lord is awesome! I’ve been stressing out about how I am going to get the money to go on this mission trip and instead of stressing I let go of the stress and am letting God take care of it. So this is what has happened in the past couple of days. Melanie sold her nice sewing machine for $3700. We have 3 big events coming up soon. 1. Africa Mission Trip. 2. Her parents 50th anniversary. 3. Our 10 year anniversary, we are renewing our vows. So Melanie has put $1000 towards the Mission trip and the rest is being divided up between our anniversary, her parents anniversary, and our church. Is God AWESOME or what? Oh, and it gets better. I sold my motorcycle a couple of months ago and yesterday put my riding gear and some other stuff up for sale. As of right now, I have made around $600 and I haven’t sold everything yet.
I think there is a lesson there. When you start stressing out about something (money, job, relationship, marriage, kids, etc.) your focus moves from God to these other things. When in fact, if you would just give that stress up to God and ask Him for His help…..He will answer. It might not be the answer that we were looking for, but He will answer.
We had youth last night and it was very interesting. Zak came up with a game that involved M&Ms, you know the chocolate little treats, and ketchup. You might be thinking GROSS!!! Well, I can tell you that the smell afterwards was. Here are some pictures of the remarkable event. As you can tell, the students really enjoyed it?!?!?!
I leased my car…I know, I know….not the smartest thing to do. It is time to try and get rid of this thing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the car. I just don’t need something that fancy and costly. I am trying this site that I found, swapalease.com. Hopefully these guys can get the job done.
I was at Men’s Group this evening and we were talking about our marriages. Melanie and I have been married for almost 10 years now. I never thought that our marriage could get any better, but I was wrong. We both have been going through a HUGE spiritual growth. We have put God at the center and foundation of our marriage. Once we did that, wow, our love and respect for each other just keeps on growing each day. God has shown me that through Him anything is possible and everything is better. It was told to me this evening that God is very jealous. He wants Melanie all to Himself, just as he wants me all to Himself. But, He loves us both so much that He has allowed us to have our marriage. He loves me so much that He is sharing His child. I praise Him because I know He loves me that much and for his wonderful gift, Melanie.
God, I thank you and praise you everyday for your wonderful gift that you have given me. I ask that you keep us strong and always keep You at the center of our marriage. We know that our marriage would not last if it wasn’t for you. Thank You. In Jesus name, Amen.
I have a great opportunity to go to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa this summer on a mission trip. I have already committed and invested, along with others, for this trip. I have never done a mission trip over seas before. This will not be my first time over seas, or even Africa at that. When I was in the Marine Corps I lived in Japan for 3 years and travel all over. Anyways, my job on this trip is to help setup a computer lab for the Methodist Missions Seminary in Mulungwishi. What is really cool about this mission trip is most of the other volunteers are people that watched me grow up. My former pastor is the leader of this mission trip, Roland McGregor. I am really excited and nervous at the same time. Lately I have been more stressed about the trip more than anything. Why, well, it cost money to do this. The trip is going to cost around $3200 for me to go. I have $1000 already dedicated for this, but I just found out today that I need $2400 by April 1st.
So, what do I need? I need prayers! If it is God’s will for me to go then it will happen. I need you to pray for me and ask God to calm me down with the finance issue. I is hard for me to not stress out on something like this, so I need those prayers! I will keep posting as time goes on about this mission trip.
I was watching a reality show, you know the ones where the cameras follow the people and record their lives, and the show was about these financial wealthy wives. One of these women turned 40 and was having a birthday party on a yacht that the husband rented. Her birthday gift was a $40,000 Rolex watch. This thing was beautiful. Had diamonds everywhere. One of the other ladies made a statement stating that having a Rolex watch like hers shows people you have “made it.” Really? Made what? What does this “made it” mean?
I have struggled, like many, with money and possessions. I always wanted to have the fancy car, clothes, watch, boat, jet ski, motorcycle…..you name it and that is what I wanted. Why? To show people that I “made it.” To show people how successful I am. Well, really it was a big front because most of that stuff I really couldn’t afford. As you can tell money and possessions was at the center of my life. September of 2007 that all changed. I was driving home from being in Austin and God spoke to me. “Joe, what are you doing. Why is money and possessions at the center of your life and not Me!” I started to cry. I had to pull over because I didn’t want to hit anyone. It was like God removed the scales from my eyes and and I saw what I had been doing wrong. (Later I thought of this and wondered if this is what Paul felt like.) I suddenly was ashamed with myself. I was ashamed of my fancy car. I was ashamed of my fancy motorcycle. How horrible and wrong of me to put money and possessions in front of God. You have to remember that your money and possessions really are not yours, they are His.
So, my question again is, does a Rolex watch really mean you have made it? The answer is NO!!! If you really want to “make it” then the only way is through Jesus Christ. He has to be what your life is centered around, anything and everything that you do. Your finances, relationships, school, work…..EVERYTHING!
This is the story of a strong and beautiful little girl who has overcome so much in her short life, seen the light at the end of the tunnel, and is walking through it. Britney was born in 2000, a very sweet, happy and laid back child. Aside from a little colic in the first few months she was what I considered at that time normal…
We moved a couple months later and during the move while staying in a hotel, some idiot jerk decided it would be fun to set off the alarm at 2:00 am. So here my husband and I are lugging two children down five flights of stairs with alarms blaring and lights flashing and all I could think was here we go again.
About this time she went and stayed for three weeks with my in laws. This was the longest she had ever been away. When I would talk to my Mother I law she told me that Britney was just being so mean and they had to get onto her for some of the strange noises and movements she was doing. I asked them to be patient and that I was starting to think that it couldn’t be helped. That’s when I started remembering back to my childhood and how I would do little vocal things and I was always told that I could stop if I really wanted to. As an adult I learned to control it so I had never made the connection between us.
Then in August of 2006, we found our best hope yet. Dr. Kendall Stewart. I had heard that this Dr. had a different approach to treat the causes not just cover the symptoms. I made an appt and got her in 3 months later. They performed hearing and balance tests on her and told us that yes she did have sensory integration disorder and that they could treat it and she would be off all medications within a year.
Now she is completely off her meds including the one for tics which also helped with the ADHD and although she is a naturally hyper child it is not the same as not being able to control your speed and your actions. You would honestly never know that she ever had any of her problems. Dr. Stewart was really a Godsend. She has been tested three times (hearing and balance tests) and every time you can see on the graphs that the different areas of her brain are starting to work together. It’s like before she was floating in space and now it has all come together.

Please feel free to email me at Melanie@stitchin4kids.com if you have any questions or if you just want to share your story.
UPDATE:
After much research and talking to other parents, I have come to believe that immunizations and some of the preservatives in them are what caused Britney’s problems. I have also found out that even though she is well, there is a chance that she could regress if she gets any kind of infection. Because of this, we have to put her back on her medications for a couple of weeks if she starts to get sick.
Also she takes a micronutrient along with MB12 nasal spray just to keep things going smoothly. The MB12 nasal spray has really helped calm her down and has basically balanced her system out.
We go back to the DR. in June and I will continue to update periodically when I get the chance. Thank you to everyone who has read this and has passed it on.
