So after I blogged about my wonderful experience with the team at Zappos (blog is here), the CEO (Tony Hsieh) started to follow me on twitter, and I returned the favor and started following him. Tony was here in the great city of Austin at SXSW. He did a twitter post today and I thought I would share the two documents he twittered on. Could you just imagine if most companies would follow these simple guidelines? Hmmm. Something to think about!

I woke up this morning to my wonderful iPhone buzzing. I looked at the number and it was a 512 area code, which is local to me. Then I noticed the prefix was a 938, which is what my MagicJack is. So I answered it. It was two of my awesome friends from Mulungwishi, DR Congo, Africa!!! David, who is the missionary, and Cedrick, my friend that I met while on the mission trip last year. He is their IT guru. It absolutely made my day. I want to go back so bad. God Bless you guys!!!
I got them a MagicJack when I went on the mission trip last year. They finally got some electricity and were able to get some use out of the MagicJack. I just think that is so cool, they are able to make phone calls to the United States for free! It sounded great and was awesome. Their world now has been opened because they can make phone calls to the U.S. Crazy huh! With all the technology out there these guys are just now able to use it. God is AWESOME!!!
I absolutely love Zappos!!! Their customer service has to be the best customer service I have ever come across. For example, I was going to order some new sandles for this coming summer. I went to order them and it said that they were out of stock on my size. It also said that there might be a chance that the sandle had been discontinued. So I decided to call Zappos and ask them. The greeting I got when a representative answered the phone was just awesome! If I were to have been in a bad mood, she would have definitely put me in a good one. She checked her system on the sandle and decided to call the company and check with them. WOW! She got back with me and verified that the sandle was discontinued from the factory. I told her that I was going to do some internet searching and try and find this sandle. She told me that she would help me out…are you kidding me?!?!?! She wanted to make me, the customer, happy so she helped me search to see if one of their competitors had this sandle. It just wasn’t this one time that Zappos has provided outstanding customer service, it has been every time I called whether it be to ask about a product, buy a product, or return a product.
Bottom line, I think that Zappos needs to get into the “Customer Service Training” business. There are many, upon many of companies that need help in that department…really really really need help.
Zappos, you guys are awesome, and keep up the outstanding work!!!
So, when I cannot sleep at night, and House is not on, I don’t mind turning to A&E to watch a little bit of CSI Miami. This show is so funny, I am laughing because of how Horatio Caine is portrayed in the show. Why does he have to look down while he starts to talk to someone, and then look up at them about 5 seconds later, dramatically. Or, why is he always taking his sun glasses on or off dramatically? Or, better yet, why does he have to repeat himself all the time…(dramatically) why does he have to repeat himself all the time? I don’t know the answers to these questions, but it sure is funny!
Oh, and if you see Melanie, ask her what she thinks of Horatio Caine. I think she might have a small crush on him. She has even told me that she wants me to change my name to Horatio…is that weird?
